Sharni Vinson debuted as an actor in 2001, when she portrayed the role of a woman as a character in Home and Away, a soap-opera in Australia. Her performance in the limited part was so captivating that the casting agent for the show asked her to play the main characters in the show. She auditioned, but she did not get the role. The same show, Cassie Turner was chosen to play a troubled teenage girl in foster-care. Her performance was highly praised by the viewers and the critics for her portrayal.
